Mayweather vs Hattan fight

Most of you know me as a coach and teacher.  I also have been a big fight fan in the past.

Well last night when to a friend's home to watch the Mayweather vs Hattan fight.   It was an exciting fight.  I found I still am fascinated by the sport.   For some of you it may surprise you that I am a fan of such a sport.  Indeed it surprises me too and I don't really understand it.

I do understand that watching sports has some connection to my joy and interest in acting and teaching actors.   I use a lot of sport terms when working with actors so that makes sense to me but I still don't quite get why I am fascinated with boxing.

Anyway if you too saw the fight I would love to know what you think.  I must admit that I was rooting for Hattan but Mayweather is one hell of a fighter and he is one of those fighters that uses adversity to make himself stronger.   That I do respect.

what do you think of mixed martial arts fights? i didn't see the fight, but they were talking about it A LOT on the british news (much more than on the US-based news). sounds like it was a good match.

If we ever meet (hey .. anything is possible) I'm going to give you a copy of "Hajime no Ippo", probably the best boxing-related show you will ever have the pleasure of watching. I didn't care much for boxing ... until I watched "Hajime no Ippo". Now I have total respect for the sport. So .. y'know .. next time you're in Hong Kong ... or .. something ..

I'm a huge fight fan myself. I was rooting for Hatton, too, although I knew it would be quite an uphill battle for him. I mean, seriously, Mayweather had every advantage at his disposal. Hatton was fighting at welterweight, which is seven pounds higher than usual, and Mayweather had a six-inch reach advantage, which is tremendous. Furthermore, even though I usually think Joe Cortez is a good referee, I thought he did a shit job last night. He was all over Hatton from the beginning. The one thing I can't understand is why Hatton, a boxer known for his vicious body attack, focused so much on head-hunting. There were so many times where Mayweather's left side, between the tip of his elbow and the top of his belt, was exposed -- and Hatton never unleashed a right hook. It was very, very strange. Lastly, I don't know why Hatton started letting Mayweather fight in the middle of the ring as the fight wore on... It was suicide. Anyway, enough ranting. Hopefully, Mayweather will face Cotto next. I think that would be an even better match up.
