"600" - my 1st short film

Synopsis:

After coming to Shanghai on a college-graduation trip with two college buddies, Terrence decides to stay. All the partying, beautiful girls, and good food convinced Terrence this was the place to be. Supporting himself through odd jobs and teaching English, Terrence is having the time of his life.

We fast-forward seven years and Terrence is still an English teacher in Shanghai without much of a career. At the crossroads of his life, Terrence is having a midlife crisis and debating future options about returning home or staying in Shanghai. He questions the purpose of life and starts soul searching with the help of alcohol and delusional fantasies while wandering around town looking for the answer to his dilemma.

Congratulations! I think you can express the sentiment of the Terrence very well and I like the first cigarette shot at the harbour. It makes me feel the loneliness! Why is title called 600 ?

When Terrence meets the girl at the bar, he assumes she is a prostitute and offers her 600rmb for her services. "600" symbolizes the price Terrence was willing to pay for his one night away from loneliness. In a big city like Shanghai crowded with people, there are a lot of lonely people walking the streets still searching for their dreams and identities. My sole goal was to express and capture this loneliness "feel" in this film.

no, i don't think loneliness can be measured by price. but I do feel there comes a time when people are so desperate to be loved and to be heard that they will do anything to get that affection from others and that includes buying it with money.
